So I have been working hard on creating my own little sets of baby bundles. The bundles include: Burp Cloth Blanky Bib Buntings Bird (Owl) They are all made using my own unique patternsΒ (Β© SamMadeWithLove 2014), and co-ordinating fabrics! This is the first prototype of my fabulous new Baby Bundle! This gorgeous set has been made using fabric that is bright and funky, rainbows and graphic frogs! This cute little set will be available in my ETSY shop in the next day or two, so keep your eyes peeled if you are interested!! More Baby Bundles to come in Unisex, Boy & Girl Colours!!
Been at the sewing machine again and made a few more things for our bub π Very excited to have a few things matching up now π This cute Bunting and Tag Blanky will match the patchwork (Starflower Block) quilt that I haven’t quite finished yet π My lovely mother helped me pin the quilt sandwich together today, so it’s ready to be put together!!! Big job, I think I”ll save that for another rainy day! Looking forward to seeing the finished product though!!
A special friend of mine recently had a beautiful baby girl and requested a custom made owl be made for her π This is the resulting HOOT! Isn’t she cute?! SHe has eyelashes and her new owners name is beautifully embroidered onto her belly! These owls always make me smile π As this owl was also for a friend of mine, I thought I’d make her darling daughter a matching TAG BLANKY! I love the colours in this one! The dimple minky really provides a lovely soft touch for baby to play with!! Congratulations to the beautiful Bonnie on your entrance to our world!!
A few orders came in and I’ve done the cutting! Trying to knock a few owls out today! As well as the custom ordered owls, there will be a few extra; so keep your eyes out for them in my shop!!
So you might have noticed that there has been very little activity on my website or Facebook page for several months. I decided to put my lamp-working on the back-burner for a couple of months as my doctor instructed me it would be safer for BABY!! Yes! That’s right, we are expecting our first bub in December and we are VERY excited!! I was a bit sick, but now that I am enjoying my 2nd trimester, I am keen to start sewing again, knitting and nesting in preparation for baby’s arrival! I have made several owls in recent months for some very special new family members and new additions to friends families π Soon, I will probably offer the service of having the child’s name embroidered onto their special owl before the final seam is sewn and delivery. I may even do some more lamp-work soon, though I will probably refrain from working with all silvered glasses as there is a bit of a risk associated with it. I plan on doing a bit more networking on Facebook as it seems to be the “go to” tool for sales.
Off to Coolangatta markets tomorrow, hoping the weather holds out as a storm is predicted. Cars packed and ready to go regardless!! Hope to have a fruitful day as Broadbeach last weekend was very slow!! Alas, I have my awesome new trolley and a lighter table too!! Come and grab some Christmas bargains!!
All setup at Burleigh Heads! Beautiful day for a market!! Sitting right across from the sausage sizzle π how convenient! Will be here until approximately 3pm QLD time. Come and check it out!! [gmedia id=1]
Been at the torch for the better part of the day…. Probably about 6 hours all up!! Including breaks of course!! Made loads of beads, tried a few new different designs, along with trying out some frit again. They’re all in the kiln as I write, be safe to take them out in another hour or so. Can’t wait!!
So after a disappointing start on Sunday, I decided to vent my frustrations and put all my wound up energy into creating some more owls. I decided that the new owls needed to be able to sit up & I also thought that they might look better with little feet. On Sunday, I copied the pattern at increased percentages and drew up a new pointy oval (for a gusset) and also a new foot pattern. I made a large owl on Sunday night, but wasn’t entirely impressed with his ability to sit upright. After a lazy start yesterday morning and trolling the web for ideas on gussets for almost 2 hours, it finally came to me. I finally figured that to make the owls stand up I had to sew a right angle into their bums, then sew diagonally across the seams. Voila!! BINGO!! It worked π So I set to making the medium and small owls and was pretty impressed with how they turned out π Was told by one of my good friends that I wasn’t allowed to put them on the internet until she saw them!! So now she has given me the stamp of approval, I am pleased to show off Sam’s Owls Version 2.0!! Hope you like them! There are increasing orders for these and other jewellery, so if you want something custom made, get in quick before Christmas!!
So, it’s supposed to be my first time at the coolangatta art & craft market tomorrow… Only thing is its been raining all day and now I’m a little worried about setting up and having no crowd… I’ve packed the car and I am keeping my fingers crossed that this rain heads out to sea by tomorrow morning!! Everything is all set to go!! Wish me luck!!
