So you might have noticed that there has been very little activity on my website or Facebook page for several months. I decided to put my lamp-working on the back-burner for a couple of months as my doctor instructed me it would be safer for BABY!! Yes! That’s right, we are expecting our first bub in December and we are VERY excited!! I was a bit sick, but now that I am enjoying my 2nd trimester, I am keen to start sewing again, knitting and nesting in preparation for baby’s arrival! I have made several owls in recent months for some very special new family members and new additions to friends families 😀 Soon, I will probably offer the service of having the child’s name embroidered onto their special owl before the final seam is sewn and delivery. I may even do some more lamp-work soon, though I will probably refrain from working with all silvered glasses as there is a bit of a risk associated with it. I plan on doing a bit more networking on Facebook as it seems to be the “go to” tool for sales.
Just popped a couple (only 4) new products onto the site 🙂 You can find them on the home page under feature products. 3 of them are ON SALE!!! YEAH BABY!!! (For those still looking for post christmas bargains!). I will be attending the Tyalgum Village Markets again starting from the 25th January, 2014! This year, I hope to retain focus around my fun hobby and create new and exciting products while still offering custom made items for those who have something more particular in mind! Remember these pieces of jewellery and the glass beads featured within the jewellery are all HANDMADE and ORIGINAL. No other piece will ever be the same, so you’ll be an individual if you’re wearing one of these gorgeous items!
A big thankyou to Jeannie Cox for uploading a tutorial on YOUTUBE on how to make these beautiful rainbow beads, I have to say I was a bit unsure which colours to use but with her help I’ve managed to do a batch of these 🙂 I’m in love with them!!
So, in my crazy flustered state in order to prepare myself for the markets on Sunday, I made a whole heap of extra jewellery and squeezed in some time to photograph them. Here’s a sneak peek of a pair of Christmas earrings. Check out the gallery for more 🙂
Well, spent the good part of 6 hours at the torch today. Made a lot of beads, quite a few to go with a few odd beads I had and a number of new sets. Can’t wait to do the BIG REVEAL later on tonight 🙂 Getting the beads out of the kiln is the most exciting part for me! Had to do a spot of shopping also, as I found out that I’m approved to do some local Art and Craft Markets!! So preparing for the market that is this weekend is my priority for the next few days. Will be doing a mock setup before I go, and I also need to tag/price all my items!! Really buggered, but I must push on, I need to do a few things tonight….. business cards etc… Looking forward to it, but scared as anything also!! Will be at the Coolangatta Art & Craft Market this weekend!! Approx. 6am – 2pm. Hope to see you there!
Christmas light beads still on the mandrel 🙂 will definitely be making a few more of these!!
Have been busy at the torch again! Had a lovely massage today so I felt like a new woman and was prepared to get back into making some more beads! Today I tried my hand at making some Christmas beads. It’s my absolute first attempt at trying anything that even resembles or represents christmas, but here you can see my attempt at a snow man 🙂 I was pretty happy with him, but it appears he’s going to crack!! 🙁 I didn’t keep him warm enough while applying all of his decorations….. (strange thing trying to keep a snowman warm). So I quickly grabbed a photo so that you have an idea how they will work out once I’ve tried again 🙂 What do you think?! I think he’s pretty cute!
So, was at the torch for about 5 hours today, testing all the beautiful Val Cox frit I received! Neck and back are aching a bit, but I feel it was totally worth it! Some of the beads I pull out of the kiln tonight are amazing!! Made about 63 beads, with only 1 cracking – that’s ok though, I can do another! 🙂 Really stoked!! I have enough new beads to make about 9 pairs of earrings and maybe 2 or 3 bracelets!! Sweet! Really made up for the slum I was in yesterday…. By the way, none of those beads really turned out how I was expecting them to…. Oh we’ll, pays to experiment!! When all beads are cleaned up I will photograph a few to show off my handiwork! Keep an eye out on the Gallery!
Been at the torch for more than 2 hours trying out ocelot spot frit on various colours…… I’m not 100% sure how they’re going to turn out after being annealed in the kiln, but I was honestly pretty unimpressed with them so far…. Mum’s requested a leopardy spot type pair of earrings with a bit of transparent green in them, I just hope what I’ve done turns out!!! I got tired of trying out that frit, so I started on some other new samples I received yesterday… The fairy dust looks pretty cute, particularly on the black bead, but now I’m onto trying out the Fire Lotus frit. I had some beautiful result with the fire lotus rod last week, but this frit might be too fine to strike any nice colours. Here’s hoping!!!! Wish me luck!
